Pidgin

Hawaiian Pidgin has been included in the U.S. Census' List of Languages for the first time

The local dialect consists of phrases like 'Da Kine', 'Fo Real'. 'If No Can, No Can'. Its what some describe as the state's local language, believed to be a combination of many languages that came together during Hawaii's Plantation era.  It's about time for pidgin to be recognized.

The census also found that of languages spoken at home other than English Hawaiian ranked number 5.  Tagalog and Illocano ranked 1 and 2.
