Careful Where You Put Your Foot

I’ve been known to occasionally put my foot in my mouth. I wish that was the worst thing I did with my foot late Saturday evening. Instead, while raising my leg to the top of the couch in our living room, I misjudged the distance jamming my foot in to the side of the couch. Major ouch!

I didn’t like the way my pinky toe was sticking out at an angle, so I moved it back in. At first I thought that I might have inadvertently made it better, because it had always curled under the adjacent toe. Well, regardless if that was an unintended consequence, the result was not so favorable as I had hoped.

Despite ice soaks, it swelled considerably and discolored. Might I have broken my toe? With some pain medication, I made it through the night, and decided to wait until Monday to visit my Podiatrist.

After taking X-Rays this morning, Dr. Douglas Birch, who I highly recommend if you have any foot issues, confirmed that I had broken my toe in three spots. He told me that I should immobilize my left foot for 6 to 8 weeks if I want it to heal up properly.

This is not what an active person like me wanted to hear. Recently, I have been doing almost daily ocean swims and getting stronger by the day. Now, anything that might cause my injured toe to bend is verboten. As you can see from the photo below, my left foot is in a Surgical Boot which I am supposed to wear even when I sleep. I had better be careful not to kick my wife while sleeping as that boot is as hard as rock.

The good news is that I can continue working out at the gym, and I am hopeful that I will also be able to continue my Yoga practice, albeit somewhat restricted.

On the real estate front, only good news to report. We opened escrow on our listing at Maui Lani Terraces #E-306, and we are waiting on management approval for an offer that was preliminarily approved by the Asset Manager for our bank owned listing at 200 Kalaunu Way in Kapalua.

Hope you all have a great week!

Aloha,

Ken
