Market Update

Title Guaranty Hawaii has provided us with excellent graphic illustrations of where the buyers from the U.S. and foreign countries came from last year (January 2013 to December 2013) that purchased Hawaii property. 

 

 
With the exception of Hawaii residents, California, Washington, and Texas had the most buyers from the U.S.  California residents purchased $1.2 billion of Hawaii real estate last year followed by Washington residents ($262.5 million) and then Texas residents ($251.6).

In the international sector, the top foreign buyers of Hawaii property came from Canada ($244.6 million), Japan ($189.5 million), and Hong Kong ($22.2 million).

In Maui, the top foreign buyers came from Canada with around $154 million in sales which is more than 1/2 of the total sales in Hawaii.  There is a famous saying, "Maui No Ka O'i" which means Maui is the best.

The most sales from U.S. residents happened in the South side (Kihei and Wailea areas) with 807 transactions which totaled to around $514 million.  The West side (Lahaina, Kaanapali, Napili/Honokowai/Kahana, and Kapalua areas) came in second with 677 transactions and around $477 million in sales.
