Market Update
Out of the most popular tourist attractions, the ones that I highly recommend visiting are the Maui Ocean Center, Haleakala, and Oheo Gulch.
The Maui Ocean Center - The Hawaiian Aquarium is the top-rated attraction in Hawaii (Zagat Survey's U.S. Family Travel Guide). This is a favorite place for my daughters' to visit (ages 4 and 2). You learn about Hawaiian marine life with 2,000 species of fish. For the more adventurous, you can do a shark dive into a 750,000 gallon tank with over 20 sharks. My daughters love walking through the acrylic tunnel where you can see all the marine life and sharks swimming above and around you. For more information, visit www.mauioceancenter.com.
Haleakala National Park is 10,023 ft. above sea level. It is our only dormant volcano on Maui. Haleakala means "house of the sun". It's here where you can watch the most beautiful sunrise if you wake up on time. I would go to the Haleakala Visitor Center (9,740 ft. above sea level) to watch this unforgettable experience. Oheo Gulch or Seven Sacred Pools is 15 minutes past Hana town near mile marker 42 on Hana Highway. You can enjoy viewing the beautiful waterfalls and swimming in one of the pools that lead out to the ocean. There are several different trails in this area as well. The most famous is the Pipiwai Trail. It is 4 miles round trip and you'll see several great waterfalls including Waimoku Falls that falls 400 ft. down a sheer lava rock wall.
There are other tourist attractions as well, but visiting the Maui Ocean Center, watching the sunrise from Haleakala, and swimming in Oheo Gulch are my favorite places for you to visit on Maui.
