Market Update

Senator Mazie Hirono along with IRS Criminal Investigation and AARP Foundation representatives held a press conference to educate Kupuna, Hawaii's elderly about potential tax fraud.

Scam artists are sneaky so everyone including Kupuna and their families need to protect themselves as the tax filing deadline approaches.  The AARP fraud watch network provides assistance to anyone reporting suspicious behavior and updates on the latest scams being used. 

Do not give out any personal information over the phone and if in doubt report it.  The IRS released their annual Dirty Dozen list of tax scams of which phone scams were on the top of the list.  Phone scams are the most common way elderly people are scammed.

P.S. -  The Makena Beach and Golf Resort announced that they will be closing on July 1, 2016.  The Hawaii Tourism Authority will do what they can to assist the 385 employees that will be without a job find new employment.
