Market Update
Up until a few years ago it was unusual to see homes on the market in the $40 million price range. Now we're seeing a new market category emerge of "super luxury homes." Last year there were more than 300 homes for sale between $35 and $49 million.
The creation of this new market category is partly due to the creation of global wealth and demands from overseas. There is also a copycat effect, where sellers see a home selling for a high price and think they could get that price for their home as well.
Though many more buyers are willing and able to purchase these high priced homes it does not mean they are flying off the shelves. At the $40 million price range buyers know what they want and are quite particular.
