Market Update

Large land developers, investors and entrepreneurs are always looking for deals in Hawaii, and as of this week we are seeing one of those deals come together on Maui’s west side. Maui Land & Pineapple Co. which is one of Maui’s biggest land owners, has agreed to sell 46 acres to a Delaware based company called KCRMD, LLC in the middle of their Kapalua Resort property.

KCRMD LLC has big plans for the property, and has already announced that the name of the project they are proposing to build on the land will be called the Kapalua Central Resort. This resort will feature 61,000 sf. of commercial space as well as 188 residential condos. The design firm Shook Kelley is helping with the plans and execution of this huge project.

If everything goes as planned, the $44 million sale will be finalized sometime in August or September. The first phase of construction will be completed between 2020 and 2039.

P.S. As unusual as it may sound, Maui had a snow day on Monday. Because of a cold front that moved across the islands, Haleakala National Park was forced to close the Summit District because of snow and freezing rain. Above 8,500 ft. weather conditions quickly changed, and drivers were urged to turn back and stay off the roads until conditions improved. As of right now, all sunrise reservations are cancelled and will need to be rescheduled. As soon as park officials decide it’s safe for drivers, the Summit District will re-open.
