One of the best shows to go to is Ulalena at the Maui Theatre on Front Street in Lahaina. This show encompasses the rich culture of Hawaiian history from the creation of the island to the early explorers. You'll learn about Pele, the volcano goddess and Maui, the trickster God. The Maui Arts and Cultural Center in Kahului is the only world class visual and performing arts complex on Maui that has music, dance, and theater performances, art exhibits, movie screenings, and special events.
Built in 1994, it has a 12,000 seat Castle Theater, 5,000 seat outdoor Alexander and Baldwin Amphitheater, 4,100 sq. ft. museum quality Schaefer International Gallery, Yokouchi Pavilion concert stage, etc. Visit mauiarts.org to view a complete list of shows, exhibits, and cultural events.
Halau O Kekuhi - Hiiakaikano'eau will be doing a hula performance on Saturday, January 18th and Gabriel Iglesias will be doing a comedy show on Friday, November 29th as a part of his "Stand-up Revolution" tour.
There are also free hula shows on Maui. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel has a free sunset hula show daily at 6 p.m. The Lahaina Cannery Mall has a free hula show on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. There is also a Keiki Hula show there on Saturdays and Sundays at 1 p.m.
In Central Maui, the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center will be having a free hula show on Dec. 2nd and 9th at 10:30 a.m. The Maui Mall also has free hula shows on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
