Market Update

Hurricane season in Hawaii is generally considered June through November.  Here are some tips to help protect your home and family in case of an emergency.  

Emergency Kit Checklist - Create your own kit with food/water, personal items, tools and other supplies you may need if a storm hits. 

Property Protection Prep - Create a home inventory checklist to track your belongings in advance of a claim.  The easiest way to do this is using a video camera and narrating a video detailing important items. 
Insurance Policy Review - Review your policy to help you list out coverages and determine any gaps. Ensure everything is up to date. Things you may need to consider are additional living expenses, flood damage and comprehensive coverage on your car insurance.  

Family Evacuation Plan - Map out exit routes, make accommodations for loved ones and pets and keep important documents handy. 

The 48 hours before the storm can be the most crucial, it is important to track the storm path and projected risks.  Turn the fridge to it's coldest setting and keep closed so your food won't spoil if you lose electricity.  Fill up bathtubs, sinks and large containers with fresh water in case the you lose running water.  Bring lawn furniture, trash cans, hanging plants and anything that can be picked up by the wind inside.  Ensure your vehicles have full tanks of gas as filling stations may be closed.
