Market Update

The Hawaii Tourism Authority reports a large increase in airplane seats to Kahului leading to an increase in visitors and expenditures.  Including all airlines there has been a 17.4% increase in air seats to Maui since 2014. 

This increase in visitors boosted total expenditures to $2.9 million, up 6.4% from last year.  The HTA also noted that there were 8.1% more visitors that choose to exclusively visit Maui this year during their Hawaii vacation.

While growth in August was not as strong as the other summer months spending and arrivals are still exceeding 2014 and expected to continue on the rise as we enter the busy Fall/Winter season.  The HTA says they will continue to work with their global partners to keep Hawaii top of mind for travelers.
