Market Update

​The legendary story of 1940's Maui swim coach Soichi Sakamoto has recently been turned into a screenplay and looking for a movie studio to pick it up.  In the Sugar cane plantation days Sakamoto taught Maui youths to swim in the Puunene irrigation ditches. 

Sakamoto trained world renowned swimmers, he ended up coaching six national champions as well as an NCAA and Olympic champion.  He used revolutionary techniques that were way before his time.  As he wasn't much of a swimmer himself he used his science background to help him refine swimming techniques. 

​Today Reid Yamamoto who was once trained by Coach Sakamoto leads the two island, Hawaii Swim Club in Sakamoto's legacy.  The movie would depict Maui during the sugar cane era before and after World War II. 

​The pool at the War Memorial on Maui is named after Soichi Sakamoto and they hold an annual swim meet in his name.

P.S. - Nationally existing home sales reached a decade high in January.  Total existing home sales rose 3.3% to 5.69 million transactions in January.  This is 3.8% higher than January 2016, the strongest month since February 2007.
