Market Update

Maui is a paradise full of beauty and wonder, but for some residents the thought of owning a home here can be daunting or even sound impossible. For this reason the County of Maui is introducing the First-Time Home Buyer’s Down Payment Assistance Program which is designed to give long term Maui residents the assistance and opportunity they need to buy their first home. If you are curious and think this may be something you would like to pursue, you can check out the County of Maui’s informational page here

The County will be doing a lottery style drawing on September 7th at the Cameron Center auditorium in Wailuku. All of the proper applications and credit approval forms will need to be submitted to the County prior to the drawing on August 30th. It’s important to note that if your application is not selected in the first lottery it will be held in an alternate position based on the order it was drawn. Should the lottery winner not meet the grant qualifications you may still have an opportunity to take advantage of the program.

Mahi Pono is currently taking applications from Hawaii residents and local business owners for community farm plots in their Puunene agricultural park. The only parcels that will be available in the first phase of leasing are the 2 and 5 acre lots designed for local farmers to grow subsistence crops. Mahi Pono plans to do a second phase of leases that will open up the larger 5 and 10 acre parcels for local businesses.
