Market Update

Handymen are an amazing asset to any homeowner. If you have ever had to do a small repair or several around your property you most likely have a favorite handyman to work with. Fortunately, under Hawaii’s new ‘Handyman Exemption’ Law the threshold for unlicensed work has just been raised from $1,000 to $1,500

As long as the total value of the project you are requesting a handyman perform is equal to or less than $1,500 (including material and labor) you can continue working with a handyman, rather than hiring a licensed contractor which can be much more expensive. It’s important to note that this exemption does not apply to projects that require a building permit, such as renovations and most plumbing and electrical work. USA Today considered 20 different Poke hot spots from all over the state of Hawaii in July to add to their ‘Readers Choice 2019’ list. On Maui, the 3 establishments being considered were Kaohu Store, Eskimo Candy, and Tobi’s Shave Ice. Kaohu store took home 5th place and remains a popular stop for local Poke lovers.
