Market Update

According to SmartAsset, Kahului/Wailuku/Lahaina comes in at #8 as one of the hottest secondary home markets in the U.S. - 2019.  

2nd home market

To complete the rankings, they compared the total number of homes purchases to the number of homes purchases made for non-primary residences.  The top spot went to Ocean City, NJ.  Their key findings were the top rankings went to homes in vacation markets such as Maui, Jersey Shore, and Cape Cod.  The least popular area to purchase a 2nd home is the mid-West.

P.S. -  Check out the new February 2019 statistics from our Realtor Association of Maui below in our Marketing Statistics section.  From the snow falling down on Haleakala to rainy weather in all areas of Maui, we had very unusual weather last month.  We had a decrease in the number of closed sales by 12.2 %, but also a decrease in the number of homes for sale by 16.9 %.
