We hope you had a wonderful holiday celebration yesterday!  I am still recovering from the many desserts (tiramisu, pumpkin pie, apple pie, ice cream, homemade lilikoi cookies, and etc.) that I ate last night at my Smith ohana Christmas Day dinner.

As the ending of 2018 approaches, here are some important reminders:

Maui County's Tax Relief Programs to Qualifying Property Owners
Deadline:  December 31, 2018

Some of the popular tax relief programs that have this deadline are the homeowner's exemption and circuit breaker credits.  To find out more details, visit the Maui County website.  It is also a good idea to find out if your property is currently being taxed at the correct classification for the rates are based upon the highest and best use of the property.  Properties classified as Homeowner have the lowest tax rate.

Maui County's First-Time Home Buyer Program is Accepting Applications

 Deadline: 4:30 p.m., January 4, 2019

The First-Time Home Buyer’s Down Payment Assistance Program was established to assist low to above- moderate income first time homebuyers with down payment and/or closing cost assistance. The County’s Housing Division will administer the program. Applicants will be selected through a lottery drawing process.
