In the spirit of the season everything featured in the intro section of our newsletter today will have a holiday theme.

Kula Botanical Garden:

Over two weekends in December, the Kula Botanical Garden will be selling between 500 and 600 beautiful Christmas trees. The schedule for this coming weekend (December 12th and 13th) will be from 9am to 4pm. The sale of Christmas trees has helped the Kula Botanical Garden stay afloat during this incredibly financially challenging year. If you haven’t purchased a tree yet, consider making the drive up to Kula! 


Hui Noeau Visual Arts:

If you have ever been to the Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center then you are familiar with their beautiful grounds and eclectic gift shop featuring dozens of local vendors. In an event their team is calling Hui Holidays, the gift shop has had a holiday makeover and features local, handmade gifts by over 100 Maui artists, crafters and vendors. If you are looking for a unique gift that can only be found on Maui, this should be your first stop. The shop will be open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission, made possible with support from Ledcor Group. 

Pop Up Makeke:

This unique organization created to support local vendors in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic. This online marketplace features goods from 400 different companies across the Hawaiian Islands. For a unique gift with a Hawaiian twist, there is no better place online.


Lahaina Cannery Mall:

Every Saturday in the month of December, the Lahaina Cannery is planning to host socially distanced holiday activities for keiki 10 and under. Most of the activities will be centered around some kind of craft or holiday game. If you have small children and are interested in doing something to celebrate the season with your community, head over to the Lahaina Cannery Mall on Dec. 12 and 19 from 11 am to 3 pm.

P.P.S. Even during a pandemic, you can still see a gleaming example of the holiday spirit over on Front Street in Lahaina. The Banyan Tree, which is now 147 years old was decorated in early December and will be lit nightly at dusk. Face coverings are required, but the public is encouraged to come and walk between the tree’s festive trunks anytime in the month of December. You can read the full story here.
