Market Update

​Maui is home to to some majestic creatures such as turtles, humpback whales and dolphins but Maui is also home to some unpleasant insects.  Here are some common household insects and pests and what can be done about them.

​If you have bee or wasp hives on your property removal can be a dangerous task and is best left to the professionals.  There are many reasons you may have bees at your property, they're attracted to nectar and water sources.  Alii Bee Removal is a licensed pest control professional.

Cane spiders ​are the most common type of spider you'll see inside your house.  Though they are large, 3-4 inches, they are relatively harmless.  These scary looking spiders actually do not make webs and eat other insects around the house, it is best to just keep your doors and windows closed so that they can't get in. 

​There are 3 types of common household Cockroaches ​here. They seek environments where they will have food and water.  Maintaining a sanitary kitchen will prevent an infestation however if you do have them it is best to hire a professional exterminator to eradicate.

Centipedes are in my opinion one of the scariest insects to encounter.  They can grow up to over 6 inches long, can move fast and have a poisonous bite that stings.  They prefer living in dark, damp places, under rotting logs, yard clippings and such.  Centipedes are more common in wetter areas such as Haiku.  Keeping clutter, yard waste and construction materials away from your home will reduce the number of hiding places for centipedes.
