Market Update

    24/7 Wall Street recently analyzed data from the Tax Foundation to find which state's homeowners pay the most and least in property taxes.  They reviewed the property taxes paid in each state as a percentage of the home values.

    Hawaii (ranked 50 out of 50) is the state with the lowest property taxes.  The study shows that the effective property tax is 0.28 %.  Although, the median home value of $585K is the highest in the nation.  The property taxes paid per tax return is $1,993 which is the 5th lowest.
    New Jersey, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, and New York are the states with the highest property tax rates nationwide.  New Jersey has the highest effective property tax rate in the nation of 2.38 %.

    In Hawaii, real property tax rates differ per county.  Visit the County of Maui Real Property Tax Division to find out more specific information on property taxes on Maui.
