Market Update

There was some doubt if the stay at home order would be lifted by April 30th as Mayor Victorino had originally promised, but Maui residents still remained optimistic. Unfortunately, after much deliberation, Governor Ige’s office decided to extend the stay at home, work from home order for all islands until May, 31st.

The good news is that Mayor Victorino is planning to start opening up the beach parks and other park facilities in a systematic fashion as early as next week. Though all non-essential workers will still need to stay at home the majority of the time, the opening of the parks offers some additional opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities that were previously unavailable. We are eagerly awaiting any updates as to what beaches will be opened first, and the Mayor has promised that he and his team will update the Maui County website with any changes.

P.S. If there is one thing we have been missing since this shut down began it’s being able to go to some of our favorite Maui restaurants. The restaurant industry has been one of the hardest hit by this pandemic, so in the spirit of supporting local business, we encourage you to order delivery or take out from some of these amazing Maui restaurants.
