Market Update

High season for tourism on Maui typically begins in mid December and runs through the spring as tourists from the mainland and Canada endeavour to escape the cold temperatures. While travel looks much different now than it did a year ago, we are expecting thousands of tourists to arrive on Maui in the coming weeks.

Another reason many people are traveling to Maui is to either check in on their condos and investment properties or to purchase a new one. While new listings of single family homes and condos have slowed down slightly in the last couple of weeks, we are still seeing some strong indicators through pending sales that the market is picking up significantly heading into high season. At this same time in 2019, there were 197 single family homes, 254 condos, and 49 plots of vacant land in escrow. Remarkably in 2020, single family home and vacant land sales are outperforming 2019. As of today there are 221 single family homes, 232 condos, and 70 plots of vacant land in escrow.
