Market Update

They're ba-aaaack!  No, this is not a reference to the movie Poltergeist.  We're talking about the friendly gentle giants of the Pacific Ocean.  According to Hawaii Magazine the first humpback spotting took place last week in Honaunau Bay just off the Big Island.  Two tail slaps and the 2011-2012 humpback whale watching season officially began.

Whales aren't the only thing you should be on the lookout for this fall and winter.  Maui has quite the lineup of events and activities.  Here's a few for starters:


Wailuku First Friday- Held the first Friday of each month, this event is like a great big block party.  Featuring live music, great eats from local vendors, arts, crafts, and more— this is one event you don't want to miss.

XTERRA World Championships- October 23, 2011.  This race has been called "The world's premier off-road triathlon."

Wailea Food & Wine Celebration-November 18, 2011.
Held in Hotel Wailea’s elegant Anuhea Room overlooking the koi pond and beautiful hotel grounds, guests will sample exceptional wines provided by Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants and taste the best in Maui cuisine from the finest local restaurants and chefs.

Maui Invitational- November 21st through November 23rd. See some of college basketball's best teams including Duke, Kansas, and Georgetown compete in Lahaina, Maui.

Hyundai Tournament of Champions Kapalua
- January 4, 2012 through January 9th, 2012. 
Watch the champions from the 2011 PGA TOUR season compete for a collective
$5.6 million purse.


Maui Oceanfront Mararthon- Sunday, January 22, 2012.  A beautiful race course that begins in Wailea and goes along the oceanfront and concludes at Kamehameha Iki Park (near the Banyan Tree in Lahaina Town).  There are several shorter race options available too.
