Market Update

The phrase "Maui no ka oi" holds true for many.  For an unparalleled 17th time, readers of Conde Naste Traveler Magazine have named Maui the best island in the world.  In addition Maui was also voted Best Island in the US (for the 21st consecutive year).  Maui's neighboring islands including Hawaii Island, Lanai, O'ahu, and Kauai (which placed 2nd in the world for best island) also grabbed topped spots.  To see the results of Conde Naste's Reader's Choice Awards click here (PDF).

In Maui Real Estate related news, so far this year there have been over $500 million in residential home sales ($537 million as of the end of September).  This is an 11% increase over sales volume for the same time period the previous year.  Condo sales volume on Maui through September of this year totaled slightly over $459 million.  This figure represents a sharp decrease of -26% in total sales volume from the same time period the previous year.

Which begs the question: What's in store for the rest of 2011?  October and November will likely continue at a similar pace.  Then in December we anticipate Maui will see an upswing in property's going into contract.  This is typically the trend as December marks the beginning of Maui's high travel season.  More travelers equal more buyers.
