Market Update

Maui's first ever landlord summit was held on Monday.  The summit was a gathering of real estate professionals, homeowners, government officials and social service workers to discuss ways to end Maui's increasing homeless population.  

For both landlords looking to rent and tenants seeking financial aid, there are a wealth of community programs available.  Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center offers funding for security deposits, rental assistance and case management to those in need.  

Property owners expressed a want and willingness to rent out spaces but county legislation and zoning laws prevent them from building additional kitchens and second dwelling ohanas.  Mayor Alan Arakawa spoke out and said that zoning ordinances need to be adjusted to allow for more multi-family housing.
