Market Update
A shocking 43% of homes in the U.S. are in a high or very high natural disaster risk category. The 2015 natural disaster risk report takes into consideration the likelihood of a hurricane, tornado, flood, earthquake or wildfire in your area.
Knowing the natural disaster risk factor is important not only for your personal safety but so that you are prepared and can protect your home with the proper insurance coverage.
The states with the most properties at risk are California, Florida, New York, New Jersey and North Carolina respectively. The estimated market value of the homes with a high natural disaster risk is $6.6 trillion.
On Maui schools are used as evacuation and shelter centers during natural disasters. Here is a complete list provided by the Maui Civil Defense Department.
