Market Update

In October, the Obama administration announced that they are changing the refinancing program called the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP) so that more underwater borrowers can qualify.  This program is for borrowers whose loans are backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac who are current on their payments and have a job.  HARP is now being expanded so that borrowers will soon be able to refinance no matter how far underwater they are.  You can refinance your property even if it is worth half the amount that you paid for it.  The banks were given the new guidelines on November 15th and you can now inquire with your bank if your loan qualifies as early as this month.  This program is limited to loans that were delivered to Fannie and Freddie before June 2009.  It will be extended through 2013.  You can visit makinghomeaffordable.gov or call 1-888-995-HOPE for more information.
