Market Update

October brought along a change to the mortgage industry, TRID, the new TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure rule.  The new rule is impacting almost every step of the closing process.  Estimated closing with financing is now 60 days rather than 45 days.

The visual layout of the new form is much easier to understand.  The Good Faith Estimate now includes the total monthly payment or amount of cash you need to complete the transaction. 

The closing disclosure is now due 3 days prior to closing, giving borrowers time to thoroughly go through the disclosure and ask questions.  With this extra time for review there will be a decrease in mistakes.  This regulation change puts more responsibility on the lender and will help settlements run smoother.
