Market Update

Hawaii's first industrial Hemp grower license has been issued. Through the Hemp Pilot Program last month industrial hemp growing licenses were issued to one farmer on the Big Island and one on Kauai. 

The newly issued licenses are valid for 2 years as long as the licensees comply with the program rules.  Estimated harvest time is about 3-6 months after planting. 

The aim of the Hemp Pilot Program is to demonstrate the economic and environmental potential of the hemp industry.  Industrial Hemp farms have been suggested as a future use for Maui's old sugar cane fields.

P.S. - Pulehunui Industrial Park construction is complete.  Located between Kahului and Kihei Pulehunui will be Maui's first and only M3 industrial zoned subdiviosn of its kind allowing for heavy industrial use.  There are still 11 lots left, let us know if you'd like more information.
