Market Update

The Effect of the Corona Virus on the Maui Real Estate Market
The impact on our real estate market will be entirely dependent on how soon the Corona Virus can be contained.  If the extraordinary measures being taken across the country work within the next several months, we expect that any downturn in our real estate market will be short-lived and modest.
In fact, given that most people view real estate as a long term investment, we may see little or no downturn in prices.  With interest rates dropping to historic lows, we may very well see an increase in buying.  Coupled with our extremely low inventory, this should help buoy prices.
Of course, we don’t have a crystal ball, and although we hope that the above scenario plays out, we cannot be certain. 
What we do know for certain is the following:
Maui is and always will be a world class destination sought after by investors around the world.
The corona virus will eventually be contained.
This is not 2008!  The banks are not in distress with lots of bad real estate loans on their books.
