Nareit Foundation Opens Affordable Housing Grants

In an effort to boost local affordable housing initiatives, the Nareit Foundation has officially opened applications for its latest round of community grants. Hawaiʻi nonprofits dedicated to developing affordable housing for sale or rent are encouraged to submit their proposals before the upcoming summer deadline.
Here are the key details of this year's grant initiative:

Targeted Funding: Administered through the Nareit Hawaiʻi Community Giving Initiative, these grants are funded by donations from Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) operating across the islands.

Priority Focus: Special priority will be given to organizations with "shovel-ready" housing projects that are prepared to break ground, as the funds are intended directly for execution rather than the initial planning stages.

Proven Impact: Since its introduction in 2018, the program has awarded more than $2.8 million to statewide nonprofits, directly supporting local families and residents in need of secure, long-term housing solutions.
