For most people Maui is a dream vacation destination; however, that dream can turn in to a nightmare if you don't pay attention to some simple safety rules in regards to the ocean.  This goes for not only visitors but locals, too.
  • Do not turn your back on the waves.
  • Remember to bring protection from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays especially if you are fair skinned.
  • Do not swim in brown water.
  • Avoid swimming alone.
  • Go to beaches with lifeguards and heed all posted warning signs.
