Over the last 10 years, the workforce in the US has become increasingly more remote. With technology improvements as well as employers acknowledging their employees are more productive in their own environment the corporate landscape has started to shift dramatically. What was a gradual shift, however, became a drastic one in March and April of 2020, as many companies were forced to either close their doors completely or quickly adapt and figure out how to keep their teams working in a virtual format.

The stage has been set for the amount of affordable housing available for Maui residents to increase dramatically over the next few years. The two workforce housing projects we will be highlighting in this post are the Hoku’ula single-family housing development in Haliimaile and the Kilohana Makai housing development in Kihei.

Na Hale O Maui has been working since 2012 to realize their dream of creating a permanently affordable workforce housing project in West Maui. The project is called Kahoma, and as of this month it is officially complete after years of challenges and obstacles to overcome.

This coming Tuesday, October 6th another round of Maui Businesses is set to reopen under new guidelines released by Governor David Ige. Among the businesses reopening are movie theaters, bowling alleys and commercial event venues. While these businesses, which have been closed for months will be allowed to resume operations, they will have to do so with some restrictions.

Kehalani is a bright, sunny neighborhood in Wailuku that has been expanding steadily over the last 10 years to include a multitude of different communities. The most recent addition is still under construction, and will be called Anuhea at Kehalani.
