Market Update

Would you like to escape the high home costs in California? You wouldn't be alone. Over 1/2 million people left California last year in search of greener pastures...far fewer than the 400,000 who arrived. A lot of them have ended up in Maui which is one of the reasons accounting for our strong market. Even so, prices still look fairly attractive in comparison to some areas of California as you can see from some of this weeks "Best Buys" below.

Nationally, we are still seeing a post-Hurricane Katrina boom which is reflected in the second highest level for the "Pending Sales Home Index". This leading indicator for the housing sector is showing that the real estate market boom of the last 7 years still has some legs left on it.

One of the nations largest luxury home builders, Toll Brothers, sees slower home sales; nevertheless, they still expect to see home prices rise albeit more at historical levels than the rapidly escalating prices of recent years.

Lastly, another article that you might find interesting to read, "Real Estate Softer but Still Buoyant", shows mixed signs and some seasonal slowing.
