Market Update

For an unprecedented 11th year in a row, Maui was voted "Best Island in the World" by the readers of Conde Naste. Read the full story in today's Maui News. It is not surprising when you consider that we have the most beautiful beaches and scenery along with wonderful restaurants, entertainment, and shopping.

For a look at how our real estate market is doing, here are the statistics as provided by our Board. We are sure it comes as no surprise to anyone that prices have been going up; however, it looks as if we may see a tapering off in the rate of price increases as inventories have risen in recent months and sales have fallen. Year to date, we are off 15% in home sales and the median price is up 31%. Condo sales are still up 3% for the year and the median price has increased by 27%.

We will soon be in our high season (December 15 to April 15), so if you are contemplating buying, you might consider doing it sooner rather than later. During the high season, we have the greatest number of visitors on the Island and typically these people buy more real estate than people coming at any other time of the year.
