| There was a very upbeat article in today's Maui News that we want to call your attention to. "Economist's Paint Rosy Picture of Future for Maui and the State", an article by Harry Eager tells how unemployment is down statewide and lowest on Maui, and consumer confidence is high with both income and spending rising. About the only concern is the high cost of housing; however given the strong demand and lack of adequate supply, it is doubtful we will see a wholesale drop in prices on Maui. We are seeing some decreases in listing prices (getting more realistic) and inventory levels are a bit higher, but any time there is a well priced home or condo at or near last month's price, it sells quickly. This week's Newsletter features a number of properties where they are either very attractively priced or there is an indication that the sellers may be motivated to take less than their asking price. One last article that we'd like to call your attention to is titled "Housing Economists See Record 2004". It comes from Jacob Hoag with City Bank.
