Our New Office Manager

We are very pleased to announce that we now have a full time office manager who will be assisting us with answering the many e-mails we get plus coordinate escrows, listings, buyer appointments, and overall help us with the day to day operation of our business. Previously Dawn had an active real estate license and had passed the GRI (Graduate Realtor's Institute) course. She is in the process of reactivating her license in the next week. We look forward to working with her and we are sure you will as well.

To familiarize you with our new addition, we asked her to write up a short bio. Here is what she wrote.

Moved to Maui in 1987 from Ohio. Graphic Designer turned Massage Therapist turned Personal Trainer turned Scuba Instructor turned Real Estate Agent.

Mother of one son, Marcus age 30. Proud grandmother of Abigail Sarah, age one week.

Past interests include boogie boarding, surfing, volleyball, tennis and handball. Currently enjoy hiking, scuba diving, swimming and photography.

Worked with exotic animals at the Santa Ana Zoo, certified in Animal Health Care, and operated business in animal massage (primarily horses and dogs). Featured in numerous magazines, newspapers, and TV shows.

Proud to be a part of the "Smith Team", having long admired Ken Smith for his professionalism and integrity.

Market Update

We are now in full swing of our high season on Maui and the market is gaining momentum through all price ranges. The best deals are probably to be found on the high end luxury homes because these have not appreciated percentage wise as much as the lower end of the market; nevertheless as our Newsletter this week shows, there are still good buys in all price ranges.

Our featured property that we have taken over co-listing on is an impeccably maintained home with 1584 sq. ft. of living area. It is quite extraordinary to find a home of this quality and square footage for only $423,000. We will be inputting additional photos shortly, so be sure to check back on this one as it is one of the best deals in its price range in the Upcountry area.

The big news this week as anyone who loves golf knows is the Mercedes Championships at Kapalua Maui being televised in prime time on ESPN. We could never buy the kind of publicity we get from an event like this with the top golfers in the world competing for total prize money of over $5 million. The weather has been absolutely incredible during the whole tournament. If you don't live here, we hope you were able to tune in and enjoy vicariously the beautiful scenery that was displayed so well with big waves, clear blue skies, and whales frolicking in the background.

When you live here year round, it is easy to become complacent and take what we have for granted. When you have an event such as this, it reminds us of how much we have to appreciate. It also brings home why Maui will always be a prime place for real estate and why we are still quite bullish on our real estate market despite the run up in prices we have seen over the last several years. Yes, prices may pull back at some time in the future, but we don't see any evidence of that happening soon, and the long term outlook still looks extremely bright.
