New Maui County Shoreline Map

Maui is blessed with some of the best beaches in the world, and in an effort to make finding those beaches easier, the County created a new website that gives an overview of every public access location on the island. In addition to the location of the beach itself you can also view information on water quality, surf conditions and weather conditions.

Our Mayor, Michael Victorino was especially excited to provide this resource to Maui residents and visitors. “This is a terrific tool for the public to enjoy our coastal resources and use our public beach accesses throughout the County,” Mayor Michael Victorino said. “It was a great collaborative effort to bring this to fruition, and I thank everyone involved in launching this site.”

Once you select a beach from the minimap, you can view detailed information on where to park, how to access the beach and what type of amenities are available such as public restrooms, trash receptacles, canopies, and lifeguards. For some of the beaches you can even view 360-degree photos of the shoreline and surrounding area. All of Maui County is represented on the map, so you can view beach access points on Molokai and Lanai as well.

Before, the only way to find out about some of Maui’s smaller or lesser known beaches was word of mouth, but with this new resource it will be easier than ever to find a beach and check out the weather conditions before packing the umbrellas, towels, and chairs.

The Maui County Planning Department, Information Technology Services Division built the website in conjunction with the University of Hawaii Sea Grant Program. Funding for the project was provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration through the Hawaii Office of Planning Coastal Zone Management Program.
